Slimline, budget-friendly case
Choose the MetroCount Handle instead of the traditional roadside case when purchasing the RoadPod VT. Benefits include a discount off the standard RoadPod VT price, 56% lighter in comparison, a compact design for easy handling and total weather resistance.
Download traffic data from your desk
The Remote Access Link sends information from your traffic counter to any computer running the MetroCount software. It is perfect for managing hard-to-access or semi-permanent sites, saving time surveying multiple locations, diagnosing sensor issues during active surveys and improving staff safety.

Does the RoadPod tube counter work on unsealed roads?
Yes, this tube counter works on dirt and gravel roads as well as sealed surfaces. Use 200mm deck spikes (or 100mm bugle-head coach screws) instead of standard road nails for a secure hold in loose material, and feed the tube through lay-flat hose to protect it from punctures on rough ground. Check the site weekly to make sure the tube stays secured.
Can you download the RoadPod tube counter data remotely?
Yes. Connect the optional Remote Access Link to your RoadPod® VT to check the installation and download traffic data remotely to your computer.
Can the RoadPod VT detect cyclists?
It's not something that we recommend using the RoadPod VT for, as the numbers will not be reliable or accurate. For monitoring shared paths, MetroCount has developed the RidePod® bike & pedestrian counter range, with optimised hardware and dedicated classification schemes.
Depending on the survey location, RoadPod and RidePod systems can run alongside each other. Please contact MetroCount to discuss specific project needs.
How many lanes can a single RoadPod VT cover?
One RoadPod VT tube counter can cover up to two lanes of traffic for detailed speed and classification data ), or up to 4 lanes for basic volume counts. For best data, we recommend using one unit per lane, or the RoadPod VT4 when monitoring two adjacent traffic lanes.
From Data Collection to Action: How Speed Surveying Impacts Traffic Management
Conducting a traffic survey is an efficient method of collecting traffic data to identify focus areas and changes in patterns. With a focus on speed surveying, the results collected using RoadPod® VT counters can provide a better understanding of the key metrics of road safety and which, if any, need improvement.

Road Impact Studies in Guatemala
Since 2016, urban development consultants Analitica have been using automatic traffic counters to conduct road impact studies throughout Guatemala. We chatted with Analitica’s director, Oldin Ramirez to hear how MetroCount traffic monitoring systems have played a key role in informing real-estate projects and infrastructure development across the country.

Two different statistical tests (Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test and T-Test) were performed to statistically demonstrate reasonable reliability of the traffic counting tubes data. Both statistical tests revealed there is no significant difference, at the 95% confidence level, between the actual traffic volumes and volumes obtained from the traffic counting tubes.
