The RoadPod® VM-I features permanently embedded, solar-powered magnetometers that deliver reliable, real-time traffic monitoring in almost any environment. This low-profile design sits flush with the road surface, making it ideal for regions with snow ploughs or other harsh conditions.

Data You Can Rely On

The system recorded 99.8% speed accuracy and 98.9% classification accuracy when tested against data from inductive loops and piezoelectric sensors at the same location and time period.

In-Road Installation

Each RoadPod VM-I sensor is installed by drilling a 130 mm diameter hole (33-40 mm deep) and sealing the sensor with an encapsulant e.g. PU-200 polyurethane. Once cured, the sensor sits fully flush with the road, offering long-term stability. This ensures that your device is always protected and functioning.

All data from your VM-I sensors is securely transmitted to ATLYST®, MetroCount’s cloud-based analytics platform. There, it’s processed in real-time into comprehensive dashboards. Easily filter, analyse, or export your data, knowing it’s securely stored and always accessible.

Patented Technology

RoadPod VM-I sensors are 3-axis digital magnetometers embedded directly in the road, which work to accurately detect passing vehicles. The smart system classifies traffic by vehicle length, while time-stamping each event for detailed speed, volume, and vehicle-length data.

By installing 3 to 4 sensors per lane, you gain comprehensive data for each vehicle. From basic volumes and speed statistics to classification bins and gap/headway information, VM-I data closely matches loop sensor performance.
