purpose built, premises in Fremantle, Western Australia. MetroCount
is the trading name for Microcom Pty Ltd.
History
of development
Microcom has been operating at the leading edge of data logging since
1987. From 1990, the company focussed on the development and production
of traffic survey devices leading to the technically advanced MetroCount
Vehicle Classification System. Microcom is a now a world leader in
the design and manufacture of MetroCount vehicle traffic counting/classifying
equipment and software.
Representation
MetroCount has offices in Australia (Head Office), United Kingdom
and the USA. MetroCount
products have been purchased for use in USA, United Kingdom, Australia,
New Zealand and over 60 other countries (December 2005).

MetroCount's research and development department is staffed by trained
and experienced engineers and computer programmers. Research and development
is ongoing and has been responsible for the release of outstanding
new features and a range of new models over the last eight years.
MetroCount's research scientists travel throughout the world to further
their knowledge and understanding of industry requirements. A commitment
to research and development is the reason for MetroCount being recognised
as one of the most innovative hardware and software developers of
traffic classifier systems in the world.

TCS-1000 |
1991 |
Axle
counter with very low power consumption, storing axle counts in
15 or 60 minute bins, purpose-built to suit the harsh operating
conditions of outback Western Australia. Employed rechargeable
SLA batteries. Used extensively by Main Roads Western Australia,
providing reliable service for almost a decade.
DOS Operating Software: TCS-995.EXE, TCS-997.EXE |

TCS-3000 |
1991 |
First
individual-axle time-stamping vehicle classifier system, with
256k memory, and adaptive auto-ranging axle sensors, eliminating
any routine calibration. Power usage allowed up to 30 days of
continuous data logging. Pioneered MetroCount's dual-level environmental
protection concept, with clam-shell steel outer roadcase and internal
PVC box containing the electronics.
DOS Operating Software: TCS-3000.EXE
DOS Analysis Software: TCSANAL.EXE, TCSANAL5.EXE |

MetroCount
3500 |
1995 |
Enhancement
of the TCS-3000 electronics, with 256k and 512k memory options.
New "Drawer" concept roadcase, continued the dual-level system,
but with improved ergonomics.
DOS Operating Software: TCS-3500.EXE
DOS Analysis Software: TCSANAL5.EXE |

MetroCount
5500 |
1998 |
Enhancement
of the MC5000, allowing full support for MetroCount's revolutionary
new Traffic Executive Windows software with its signature system.
Introduced the Regular and Plus models, offering multi-level access
to Traffic Executive. New power-saving firmware to extend battery
life.
Traffic Executive Windows Software, Version 1.21 |

MetroCount
5510 |
1999 |
Enhancement
of the MC5500, incorporating new, ultra-bright LED status indicators,
reducing the reliance on notebook PCs for data gathering operations.
First use of stainless steel for roadcase construction, continuing
the well-received Drawer concept.
Traffic Executive Windows Software, Version 1.21 and 2.1Beta |
MetroCount
5600 |
2000 |
Complete
re-design of MetroCount circuitry, to further extend reliability.
Incorporating new, user-replaceable, D-cell alkaline battery packs
giving at least 290 days of continuous survey operations. Focus on
internal layout to yield totally waterproof design, with enhanced
LED status indicators.
